Sleetwind padded slowly to the shore of the river away from the mates meadow. He looked back at it one more time. The intwinded scents of cats made him shrink in jealousy. I'll never get a mate. He though to himself. He grunted as he walked to the shore. He stopped when he reached the stoney waters edge. He sat down and waited for the perfect fish.

Shadewing slipped from the cover of brush, looking around wearily. There was no cat in sight, so she thought she would be fine. She stepped up to the water's edge and lowered herself enough so that her bent head lightly grazing the water. A long pink tongue flicked from her mouth, curling backwards to bring the cold, clear water into her jaws. After many mouthfuls of water, she paused to catch her breath for she had been drinking very quickly.
She heard a faint drumming of paws on the earth, and she crouched down, her eyes flicking from side to side. She was out in the open, and although when she crouched she protected her belly, a cat could still attack her. She turned slowly in a circle, her eyes searching up and down the bank and in the brush she had come from. Finally, to her obvious relief, she spotted another GrayClan cat.
Shadewing stood erect again and turned to lap up a few more moutfuls of water before turning and padding slowly towards this cat. "We meet again." She meowed in her quiet hiss. Her eyes were not as evil looking as they had been in the rain, and now they gleamed pale yellow in the sun.

"It seems so," He said quietly his gaze leaving the water and turning to the femme. "What brings you out here?" He asked still speaking sweetly but softly. He padded his paw softly against the pebble stooded sand. His feet sunk in slightly with every step.

Shadewing nodded at the river. "I was very thirsty." She meowed simply. It was clear that she was not a cat of many words unless need be. She sat down, curling her tail around her pitch colored paws. As her surprise faded at having a cat sneak up on her so easily as her spine and shoulder fur again layed flat. "And what about you?" She asked in return, not really knowing what else to say. She rarely spoke with any cat other than her leader.

"Well I was just out on a walk, then I desided to go fishing but I don't really feel in the mood anymore the kill pile was full when i left so there really isn't a need," He said. He was now sitting trying to find a spot that was more sand than pebbles so they wouldn't poke him while he sat. The talk of her thirstiness was making him thirsty too so he bent down and took in a few laps of water.

Shadewing nodded, seeming to except this response although she also sensed a familiar feeling shining in his eyes. 'Jealousy. I'd stake my tail on it.' She thought decisively, but said nothing of it. "I see." She meowed, "Yes, we're doing rather well considering where we live and what time of year it is. Usually prey starts thinning out by now but I'd say they're pretty plentiful right now." Shadewing subconsiously drew a forepaw up to her mouth and began to clean off the gritty sand from the sandbank. Then she did the same for her other forepaw and when she finished she shook each paw and settled into her previous position again.

"Yes the prey is running quite well," He said staring at her funny. She seemed to be doing a ritual almost as if she didn't even notice.
OOC: Sorry so short there wasnt much to say.

ooc- it's alright. I know what you mean xD
bic- Shadewing's pelt shone. She often looked like a kittypet because for some reason, although she was a rough and tumble kind of cat, she liked to remain somewhat clean if she could.
Shadewing noticed Sleetwind staring at her with an inquisitive look in his eyes. She shifted under his gaze and her eyes went to her paws. There was a long and uncomfortable silence between the two clanmembers and both cats just sat tolerably through it for a long while...

Sleetwind began to pad the earth again because the lack of noise was beginning to make him nervous. Finally there was a snap of a twig that rang across the water. Making it see like a lions roar. Sleetwind sat back down tail delecatly curled around his pure black paws satisfied the he, or the stick rather had broken their long streek of utter silence.

A massive tabby appeared out of the little stream seemingly out of nowhere. The water just dripped of his fur like an otter. "Sleetwind. Shadewing." he greeted them. Graystar stretched, his muscles rippling under his pelt. He flicked his tail, "Shadewing, could you lead a hunting patrol later?" he asked, his pale eyes gleaming in the dark.

Shadewing was relieved that another cat had broken their silence. She dipped her head respectfully in his direction and meowed, "Greetings." And then "Of course I will." She was glad to have a task set before her in which talking was not needed. She turned to Sleetwind and meowed, "Wanna come?" She had no idea who else she would take, for she had very few friends in the clan.

Pebblestrike padded into the clearing. His fur was drenched with water."Hi"he mewed. He padded over to the others for he had nothing else to do at the time.He sat down with his tail around his paws ready to listen to anything. He brought his paw up to his face to give it a few swift licks. It tasted like awefull water. He almost gagged at the taste.

Shadewing turned and nodded in greeting to Pebblestrike. "Hello, I'm Shadewing. Although I don't know you, you look like you'd be perfect to go on a hunting patrol with me and Sleetwind. Whaddaya say?" Her yellow eyes gleamed with amusement, for as if on que another elligible cat had appeared that might want to go on the patrol. 'This must be my lucky day.' Shadewing mused silently as she awaited the new tom's response.

Sleetwind looked to see what his deputy would say. He purred softly at the fact that he hadn't even accually said he would go but she had decided for him. He stared down at the water refocasing his eyes so he could see down into the water instead of the reflection of himself. He watched as a dark shape moved underneith his paw. In one gliding swoop he hooked a fish and sent it flopping on the shore. He killed it before it had a chance to riggle down to the water.

Shadewing was distracted for a moment as Sleetwind stared at the water before making a fine catch. "That was an awesome catch." She meowed. Then she moved to the water's edge and lashed out at a fish. It swam away hurriedly, for she had missed. Shadewing grinned sheepishly at Sleetwind before looking back into the water. After a few long moments of her sitting extremely still, her paw flew out again and this time a silvery form was flung out of the water and landed beside the other fish. She hooked her jaws around it's head and twisted, feeling the crunch of it's broken neck. She looked down her muzzle triumphantly at the dead fish and then looked up at the other cats.
