A large gray tom with pale blue eyes padded into his den and sat down. He had been leader of GrayClan for awhile now. He wondered what would happened when he passed on to Dark TwilightClan. The new leader might have to be another Graysomething. He flattened his ears in deep thought. He thought about going to see how his old friends were getting along. He had known Warstar and Icestar for a long time. Graystar nodded, later he'd go out and see them along their borders.

A small black she-cat paced back and forth inside the warriors den. Something was buzzing in the back of her brain, but she couldn't figure out what. It was the same feeling she had had when she was born, and when she dreamed. Maybe it was a sign from DarkTwilightClan?
Shadewing had a sudden idea. She closed her eyes tight and thought hard: 'Dark TwilightClan? Is that you?' She had no idea it would actually work, and suddenly she was surrounded by far off, tiny bursts of light. It had come from the stars, although very distant, which were blazing through an eternal light. She looked around and saw that in the darkness were darker shadows, as if there was a color darker than darkness itself. These dark shadows evidently were cats, although because they were all black she could not tell what they looked like.
One padded up to her and meowed, "Shadewing. We've been trying to reach you all morning. Grayclan, and every other forest clan, is in deep need of medicine cats. We know how feirce you are and that you are a great warrior, but we also know that you have a strong will for strength, which easily connects you to us. We can teach you all you need to know to heal your clan. Are you up to it?"
Shadewing knew by the voice of the cat that it was a tom. She blinked and looked around, "Is that Twilightclan?" She meowed to the dark-covered cat, flicking her muzzle over at the distant stars. "I always though that DarkTwilightClan would be in a more special place...like inside the earth...so you are just out here in space, in a place where no stars thrive? You dwell in utter darkness?"
The cat apparently was becoming impatient because she hissed, "Yes yes. But now is not the time for questions. You must try and convince your leader to allow you to take up the role of medicine cat. The other clans may be sceptical of letting a GrayClan cat help their clans get medicine cats, but we'll help you convince them. Twilightclan is also helping, although they could not speak with you for reasons you should know. Now go, and do our bidding."
"I'll do whatever I darn well please thank you." Shadewing hissed irritatedly to the cat. "And what if I don't complete your plan? Huh? Shall we all perish?"
The cat leered, and even in the darkness his teeth shone. "Well I suppose you'll find out, won't you?" He showed no signs of anger though, and he added, "And as for doing our bidding, that was a mockery of Twilightclan. I didn't seriously order you to do this job, I just highly recommend you do it. Goodbye."
She was thrown into the brightness of daylight again, with the taste of dirt in her mouth. Apparently, she had fallen forward onto her face right in front of Graystar's den. "Blech!" She growled, spitting dust from her mouth and making no effort to get back up. "Well this is certainly a nasty situation. What should I do? I really don't feel like doing this stupid job..." She looked around, hoping nobody had noticed. If not, then she could get away with not appointing the medicine cats for other clans. "I'm no messenger." She grumbled, still laying on the ground, "Why don't they get some other puppet to speak through?"

Graystar pricked his ears as he heard Shadewing and Pantherpelt's voices. "Hm what's wrong Shadewing? Did you say something about Dark TwilightClan?"
He turned to see his deputy, Pantherpelt. "Hey good to see you too. Any news?"

Shadewing leaped to her feet at her leader's voice and meowed, "Oh! Graystar! Hello!" She hurriedly made a small bow and she began to speak in a surprised tone which slowly grew back into her normal monotone, "No, I didn't mention Dark TwilightClan. I mean yes, I did, I just tripped and then said, 'curse that dark twilightclan for making a fool of me for sport!' They always seem to like playing tricks on me!" Shadewing's excuse was very plausible, except for the fact that Graystar's mention of dark twilightclan had sent her tumbling into speech. She knew he might not buy it, but it was worth a shot.
ooc- hey, could that be a part of the plot? Shadewing going and helping other clans get medicine cats? =]

Graystar raised an eyebrow, his jaws parting into a grin. "Hey it's ok to tell me or not. I'm your leader and you can share whatever you'd like to share. Alright?" his tailtip twitched with amusement.

Seeing his chance at the pause of dialogue, the lanky deputy respectfully lowers his head and gives the report of his patrol. "all has been rather quiet, the prey are average and rather plump if I might add, and I think there was a scent of rain in the air. The clans are slowly gaining pawhold and growing in numbers." Fininshing his report he waits to see if there is anything the leader might need.

Graystar nodded, "Very good. You can go rest now and later organize some hunting partols." he flicked his tail. He looked at Shadewing for a moment then back at Pantherpelt. "I'll lead a border patrol later."

"Very well". The deputy turned and pads off to the fresh kill pile and picks out a plump fish.

Graystar blinked as he watched his best friend pick out a fish from the fresh-kill pile. His pale blue eyes closed for a moment as he remembered how they met.

For a moment, Shadewing seemed torn between telling her leader the truth or neglecting her duty to the greater power and just pretending she hadn't been told to do something. She just stood there, her yellow gaze glowing with indesicion before she finally nodded and meowed, "Yeah, I know I can tell you anything."
The black femme's eyes reflected friendship at her leader. It was somewhat chilling to see how easily she now lied and masked it. She turned away, her tail twitching somewhat in agitation. She wondered how long she could last without just bursting out and telling her leader the whole story. She wasn't great at keeping secrets at all, although she was good at short-term lying.

Graystar suspected there was something more she wanted to say but he wouldn't push her. He flicked his tail, "If you feel you need to tell me, you know where to find me." he grinned and sat down.

Shadewing nodded, feeling like she was going to burst. She dipped her head in farewell and trotted off to slip from camp, finally resolving to tell her leader later.

Graystar watched Shadewing walk off. He shook his head helplessly. Suddenly his jaws parted into a yawn. "Guess it wouldn't hurt to get some sleep." he muttered before laying down in his moss.

Shadewing burst into Graystar's den, her eyes wildly shining at the sight she had seen. "Graystar!" She blurted quickly. She had only dozed...only dozed off by the creek for a minute before horrible images had played in her mind...involving those in Grayclan that she loved the most. It was obvious that Dark Twilightclan had been trying to persuade her to accept her destiny, and they had easily conquered her. Shadewing had immediately fled back to camp as fast as she could, knowing that she had to tell her leader about her message. "Graystar..." She said again, trying desperately to gain control of her quivering voice, "there's something I need to tell you..."
